My family is thinking of making a trip up to the eastern sierras right before school starts. Camping is not an option. So I was wondering if any of you guys has any good ideas on where a family of 6 could stay on such short notice. Also I was thinking of maybe just staying at a hotel in bridgeport, with the oppurtunity to fish bridgeport or even drive to twin lakes. Does this sound good or does anybody have a better idea on where to go. Any info would be great. Thanks alot!!!!!!!!

There is a lodge right on the shore of june lake called Boulder Lodge. They had vacancies on short notice, and even walk ups. They have some very nice (a bit rustic) condo type rooms with full kitchens and 2 bathrooms. My family of 5 and a baby stayed very comfortably for about $180 a night. Which isnt a bad price for a place that sleeps 6+ with two bathrooms and a kitchen. Just google "boulder lodge june lake" and it should come up. Good luck. p.s.:fishing right off their private dock early and late was good fishing everyday I was there.

I'd also try Woods Lodge at Lake George....

or

Anything along the loop at June Lake...

or

Rock Creek Lake Resort

Most of these places are a 5 minute walk or so to good fishin'.... :thumb:

And also....for the most part, these are all actually up in the treeline. 8)

Good Luck!

Don't forget that this time of year is the "off season" in Mammoth. Some nice bed & breakfast spots etc. that have really good prices (compared to the ski season).

My family of four goes up to June Lake every year. We always get a condo rental from June Lake Properties. We went up there the weekend of July 21st, and booked on less than two weeks notice.

I love staying on the Upper Twin at Mono Village. Used to go twice a year at Seasons open and close. Very beautiful place not even a minutes walk from the Upper Twin shore line. There is a tackle shop, convenience store and a very good restaurant that serves the "village" all within a minute~ walk. Very well maintained cabins and hotel rooms. Short walk above the cabins and there is a trout hatchery, which I personally found very cool and fun to watch.

Trying to find where on the website would have listings... http://www.monovillage.com They are usually booked that time of year though :(

Ah, just found it. http://www.monovillage.com/motelframeset.html
They don't have any 6 people rooms, but maybe you could work something out, or call them with your time frame.
