Anyone else going to the Blake Jones Trout Derby. I know it's crowded, but I have had a great time the last few years. There are lots of big fish caught, but it's a blind bogey derby. Any fish could get you the prize. I'll be at Tom's Place Saturday for post derby celebrations. Pre - Opener! I love it! good fishin!

I have to admit, I do fish around the derby. The Friday prior to Blake Jones is really good fishing. Saturday after 3:00 you can have PVR back yourself practically. I'll ski Saturday and hit the evening bite. I've had some good times BBQ'n at the Bishop hotels on Saturday night. Everyone seems to be really cool, and just there to have a good time and slay some trout. It's the opener before the opener! good fishin!

I'll be up there also, even though it will be crowded it's a lot of fun, just getting away from the daily grind and getting some fishing in as well. i cant wait leaving wed.

Blake Jones was great time! Bishop had better weather than So. Cal. that's for sure. We ended up with 3, 4 pound beauties. Had limits Friday and Sunday. All the fish were nice size, in the 14 - 16 inch range, with a few Browns released as well. Took the bikes for the first time, and will never leave them behind on a trip to PVR again. Made out of Mammoth in white out conditions Monday morning. Saw fire crews still working the Big Pine Fire. Sad situation for the folks in that little town. I'm going to make sure and stop a spend a few bucks there every time I go up just support the community up there. I don't think anyone was hurt, which is a blessing. May 13 next run up the road! good fishin!

First I have heard of this....I hear ya brother, I'm up and down that road many times a year. I'll make it a point to spend my money there.
