I went creek fishin' today in the San Bernardino Mountains. The flows are really high and everything is running really fast. I had my 3 weight and starting tossing dry dropper rigs, but found that the pools were too deep and too fast to get any kind of decent drift. So, I went size 10 crystal bugger and a cheater san juan worm (both with big bead-heads). Once I got my flies down to the fish, the takes increased. The San Juan Worm definitely took the cake today. I felt like I was cheating with, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. The weather was foggy with light drizzle. The dirt roads are still fairly firm, but major spots that can bog down - 4x4 is preferred.
