My twin brother has this week off while on vacation so we went fishing. We haven’t fished together in a while. It was another good day. My first fish of the morning was a 5.6lber on an orange powerworm in 15ft of water. It was caught on 4lb Trilene, 1/8oz egg sinker, #10 barrel swivel, #8 Owner mosquito hook, with a 3 foot leader. They wouldn’t leave this set up alone as my 1 other fish was on an inflated nightcrawler. My 2nd big fish weighed 3.7lbs.

This is my 2nd outing in a row catching a fish over 5lbs. Why can't I do this in the LMV trout tournaments this season? The same scenario as last season. I'd catch a 5lb fish the day before a tournament while pre-fishing. My 4 fish limit stringer on Sunday weighed just over 15 ½ lbs as my stringer limit today weighed 14lbs. My brother was using cheese powerworms but wasn’t getting the bigger fish to bite it. I lost another good fish as I couldn’t stop it on the hook set. It took off like a bat out of hell and then came off. These Nebraska fish are awesome!! They fight so well and very hard. My brother lost a big fish on an inflated nightcrawler and another came off. To get a solid hook set you need 4lb or 6lb line. Forget the 2lb. These fish will break you off. Here are some pics.

Caught and released this red ear on a chartreuse/pearl rapala.
