Talked to Josh in the days prior and we decided to meet at the lake in the am before the gates opened. I arrived at the Vine around 5am to a little rain and an almost non-existant line. By the time the main gates opened the rain had stopped and the skies had started to clear nicely. We were 1 of only 2 boats on the water for the 1st couple hours or so. Josh and I trolled various lures throughout the day with everything being dipped/soaked in Bite-On Garlic.
Here's a couple pics I shot early in the morning.

It took us awhile to find the fish but when we did Josh got 3 hard fighting trout back-to-back in 3 passes.

After our 4th and 5th pass through the same area it had appeared the fish had moved on so we did the same on in to the Vine Cafe for some brunch.
The weather the night before at the Pacific must have been pretty nasty because there were very large flocks of seagulls in the Flats.

After Josh had landed his 4th fish of the day i was still trying to fight the skunk. Finally one of my rods starts dancing and we could tell it was an easy DD trout. After fighting the fish for about a minute he/she jumped outta the water about 2ft and spit the hook. About an hour later I again hooked into another DD trout and again I fought this one for a minute or so with my drag set real loose then, snap!, gone! It must have had large sharp teeth like jaws cuz he sawed my 6lb test line off like nothing.
After loosing two likely DD trout I was still trying to fight the big goose egg. Finally in the last 30 mins of the day I landed this very beautiful 4lb 6oz trout. Look at the beautiful bronze gill plates on this fish.

After turning around to head in I landed my 2nd fish of the day.

Fishing was a bit slow but its understandable with the weather the day/night before. With that being said the weather man didn't scare us away and it ended up being a very beautiful day of weather and we still managed 6 quality, hard fighting fish and not to mention the 2 lost DD's.
Can't wait to get back out on the water at my favorite lake, the Vine!
