It has been a long time since I last posted a report, so I thought I would show you some of the fish from my last few trips. I usually do not start booking trips until March, as the weather can be weird, but this year I have had a lot of out of state customers who wanted to fish while they were in the area.
Yesterday was the first trip this year with someone from California. Most clients have come from Texas, Chicago, Atlanta, and the east coast. One of my clients from last weekend is Jim Warwick. He played professional baseball with the Baltimore Orioles, and was a team mate of Cal Ripken Jr. I heard some great baseball stories from him.
The fishing has been surprisingly good for the winter. Most trips are averaging about 12 to 14 fish per day, but yesterday it jumped up to 18. The first wave of fish moved shallow this week, with a lot of fish being hooked in 2 to 3 feet of water.
The baits being used at this time have been jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks, jerkbaits, and plastics. The bite is going off early this year, as the water temperature is only 54 degrees. It looks like it is going to be an awesome spring.
