I decided to take the day off of work and head out to corona with my dad to land our first lightning trout. The early morning bite was slow as I did not see anyone land a fish, but that all changed when the Mount Lassen truck arrived. I was surprised to see the number of lightning trout that where being caught just minutes after the fish hit the water. The boats by the stocking tube where the first to put a dent on the lightning trout population at corona lake. Slowly but surely the trout started spreading out and everyone from the boat ramp to the dam where catching trout left and right. Im sure it was a day of easy limits for the majority of the anglers. The bait of the day for us was chartreuse power bait. We had our limit by about 10:30. The fishing was good and we wanted to catch a couple more fish so I purchased a second pass for the day. We finished the day off at about 11am with 14 lightning trout and 1 sierra bow for a total of 27 pounds.
