Which fish should be bled first? I usually fish the piers and bays. I was thinking of trying to smoke some mackerel, as I hear they're good that way and seem to be pretty abundant so I won't feel too guilty about eating them.

mack would be one to bleed along with bonito and most other tuna species.

if you're not sure where to make the cut when bleeding the fish, or you dont have a knife, ripping one out of the handfull of gills will do the job.
