After what has seemed like forever, not being able to fish because of some required schooling and license testing, I finally go to get back in the boat with my Good Friend Trollmeister.
We met up at the usual rendesvous point where I loaded up my gear into Trollys truck and headed off to the lake, made one quick stop for breakfast and then we were on the water by 8:30am.
Right off the bat it seemed like I hadn't misseed a day with Trolly because, in Trollmeister fashion, he snuck a line out as we left the dock to got hooked up with a screamer just as soon as he set his rod down. It was definitely a nice fish because it had the reels drag screaming but as it sometimes happens..... "Pop"..... the fish is gone! As we usually do in these situations we had a good laugh and Trolly had to endure some heavy kidding about farming the first fish of the day.:Embarrassed:
We made the decision last night to go with the troll all day, experiment a little and mix it up with different lures. We went quite a while before I tried the black and white broken back rapala and that seemed to do the trick for me. I got the next fish and had to do the net duties on my own as payback for the ribbing I gave Trolly earlier.
The remainder of the afternoon we were able to boat three more fish and loose a couple more. The fishing was definitely tough but they were out there and we were both impressed with the quality fish we caught and the fight they had in them. It was definitely good to get back to the Vine and see some of the Vine staff again. We coulnd't have asked for a better day, the weather was great and the scenery was very relaxing. It was definitely good to see some of our Team 57 Friends and it was especially cool to be back on the water with my Good Friend.
First fish to make it into the net..........
