View Full Version : Best place/bait for big blues at Diamond Valley

I havent been doing it long but I love to fishing for cats. I have been to Diamond valley a couple of times, once from shore and once from a boat. I mainly fished the 3rd cove to the right of the marina, but only caught one small channel.

Could anyone give me advice on the best place to look for blues and the best bait to use?

Cat lady,

Last year I started catching them in April. My best day was 88 pounds of cats with the biggest 16 pounds. I released all my fish. Another guy I saw had 220 pounds for 10-fish. Liver seemed to be the hot ticket for me and did better then mackeral and crawlers. I was fishing the rocky areas in a boat and the fish seemed to be in definite spawning mode up shallow. Hope this helps and gets this post rolling

Go on the Mack attack and some shrimp too. If you get a chance to boat, Hit the wave attenuator or some of the coves, or quarry them kitties are hungry. My preference is 6/0 or bigger octopus hooks fresh mack-no weight, post your fish good luck out there.

Is the wave attentuator on the north side of the lake closer to the west dam?

Is that the one that floats out further in the cove, east-west lengthwise?

yes its the long dock you go around at the end of the no wake zone. runs east-west. out where they park the pontoon boats

Do blues spawn in DVL?
