I decided to take my new fishing partner Fredrick with me for the day. You see She's a Steelers fan. I'm not much of an American football fan myself, but never the less we both love fishing so off to the lake we go.
We arrived at the lake around 4am to a very light crowd. We were probably only the 7th, 8th car in line. Met up with Thisfool and Josh. While getting our gear ready Thisfool was anxious to show off some of his new top secret custom painted lures.
The cats (or should I say dogs) outta the bag. :Secret:

With such a light crowd I decided to head to the tackle shop when the pedestrian gate opened at 5:30am and say my good mornings and pay for all my fishing fee's for the day. Returned to my van to wait for the main gates to open which they did right on time at 6am. Launched my boat and we were on the water by 6:15am.
Here's a photo I shot shortly after leaving the dock.

I trolled various lures, spoons, etc throughout the day both flylined and on the leadcore with everything being dipped in Bite-On Garlic. Decided the flavour of the day would be Bite-On Corn.
The morning started out alittle slow and before I knew it the sun was peaking over the hills. Here a pic I snapped of yet another beautiful Vine sunrise!

We started to head in for breakfast around 8am and wouldn't you know it on the way back in Fredrick lands the 1st fish of the day!

After breakfast we headed towards the dam. While out in deeper water midlake my flylined rig goes bendo and the fights on! With the colder water temps these fish are really fighting hard right now. But this fish seemed to have alittle extra umphffff to it. I got the fish close to the boat and I could see it was about 5lbs with the fullest tail and fins i've every seen on a trout. No wonder why it's fighting so hard I thought. Shortly after netting the fish VinePatrol rolled by and I showed him the fish and he said it was def a holdover from last year. Such a beautiful fish. Now for some heartbreak. I'm still trying to get the hang of taking pics when fishing by myself so this is the only pic I was able to take of the fish. More to come on that later.

4th fish of the day!

After landing my 5th fish of the day for my limit I packed everything up and started to head in. I figured i'd take a picture of the last fish and my limit after I get in. On the way I again ran into VinePatrol and we chatted for a few seconds. As another boater was passing by VinePatrol asked me to pull up my stringer to show him my limit. WTF??? The 5lb holdover was gone snap swivel and all?!?! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! So I was thinking ohh well that sucks but atleast I got to show of the fish throughout the day + I have a pic of it. Well I thought. That pic from above ended up not coming out so now such a beautiful fish she was is just a memory.
I already can't wait to get back out on the water at my favorite lake, the Vine. Hope to see ya'll out on the water soon!
