i have a 5/6 wt reel on a 5 wt 9 foot tfo pro series rod and i was pondering what would be the loss or gain in puttin 6 wt scientific anglers mastery series nymph taper on that reel with that rod. my thinkn is it would be able to support my dropper rig of a dry with a bead head nymph 18 inches below the dry. but i also wonder if my fast action rod will be able to support or toss that rig properly? please anyone and everyone chime in with your thinkn on this idea thanks for your comments

it should change the "feel" of the rod. if the action on the tfo is really fast, it should make it feel a little "slower" or "softer". you should still be able to cast ok. the rod itself shold be able to support the increase.

but the bigger question is you are just looking to support multiple rigs, why not just get a 6wt rod setup. that way you can switch off between floating line on a 5wt and nymphing line on a 6wt, depending on conditions. no need to change spools and re-rig.
