Problem: Mom says the freezer is getting low on fish...
Solution: Place a call to TroutOnly.
Results: Problem solved... LOL :Envious:

Been awhile since Bob & I killed some Stripers together. Since the surf is still a bit rough, I gave Bob a call to see if he was free today (Sunday) for a Striper session at Pyramid. Bob says, no problem, see ya there bright and early. :Big Grin: John (Klocked), one of my S.W.A.T. brothers have never caught a Striper before so I invited him to come along to fish with the legendary TroutOnly. John is a Striper Virgin NO MORE!

Met up at the lake at grey light and chatted up with Bob for a bit. The gate opened at 7:00am and we were the first boat to launch. I think we saw no more than 5 boats all day, very light boat traffic.

Gave John a quick lesson of Trolling for Striper 101 and off we went. Cold weather, water temp. 51 degrees, mild wind in the early morning hours turning into strong gusts in the afternoon. Light rain on and off for most of the day. The fish was pretty scattered all over the lake and we had to work hard to find them, going from one end of the lake to the other. Picking off schoolies here and there. The bite was kinda slow but we did manage 15 fish. All fish caught on the troll, although we did try to drop bait for a little bit at "The Bouy" with no success  Can't wait until the bite start to heat back up again.

Bob, thanks again for inviting us on board the Salmonoid Phenomenon to fish with you. You ALWAYS make time for me and I appreciate that very much. Lets start planning that Striper event that we talked about.

John, glad that you were able to join us on your first Striper mission. The mission was a complete success and we'll do it again soon. Enjoy those Stripers... I know you'll be back for more!

Hope everybody had a nice weekend. I think I'm going to take a couple of days off this coming week to celebrate the Chinese/Vietnamese New Year and do some fishing while I'm at it... don't tell my "Boss". :Secret: :Envious:

I hear that the striper bite has been tough lately but that never seems to stop Bob finding the fish. Everyone catches fish when they are biting but being consistent when the fishing gets tough is what separates the best from the rest. Well done guys. Congrats to John on his first striper and many more to come. The bite in fresh and salt should start improving in the weeks to come with the new moon and spring just around the corner. Can’t wait..

Thanks for inviting me Arthur, I had a great time and thanks Bob for letting me on your boat. I enjoyed listening to your explanations of what goes on at that lake and the techniques that you use to coerce Mr. Stripey into dying!!

That Bald Eagle was cool to see along with the Golden Eagle(?) flying high in the sky overhead!
If that was a slow day, I can only imagine what a great bite would be like!

Mike, the Striper event is only in the initial stage. I'm sure there is a lot of parameters to be considered. Depending on which lake that it will be held, we will see if we can accomodate both shoreline and boat fishermen. We will support Bob in whatever he chooses to do.

OMG a double rainbow. LOL
Into rainbows...? lol

Freezing at times, but we were well prepared.

John, for Bob & I, anytime we don't get our full limits of Linesides, we consider it a slow day.
Good times, let's do it again soon!

Nice striper slay!

Bob, WN, John,

Nice lil slay! At least something is willing to put a bendo on the end of a rod!
Even though we considered it a slow day, mission was accomplished in getting John on his first Lineside. :Big Grin:

Thanks Steve, you should take your boat to Castaic or Pyramid for a try at some Stripers. Bet you would love it. I'll give ya some intel that will make your trip worthwhile.
