I arrived at the lake around 4am and was quit suprised to see the line only about half way back in the 1st 2 lanes. By 6am though the lot was full and just about to over flow into the street. Around 5:45am I headed for the tackle shop to say my good mornings and there was still a very long line just to get in the tackle shop so I quickly retreated back to my van. The main gates opened right on time at 6am and by the time I got in and launched my boat it was about 6:30am.

I started the day trolling various lures both flylined and on the leadcore with everything being dipped/soaked in Bite-On Garlic Crimson. Here's a pic I snapped shortly after leaving the dock.

By now it was about 8am and my Sister called to say shes almost to the lake so I headed in to meet her at the tackle shop and pick up a Fisherman's Special from the Vine Cafe. We quickly ate our breakfast and then headed back out to slay more trout. On the way back out we saw this character fighting this fish.

Didn't take long and my Sister had her 1st fish of the day.

I decided to change things up and try out another one of the new Bite-On Garlic scents we've been testing Anise. Something tells me this may become the new secret weapon in alot of fisherman's tackle boxes.

Next my leadcore starts singing that mono tone clicking sound thats music to my ears. Set the hook and right away I could tell there was a different fight from the fish. What was it? a crappie? Still couldn't tell when it 1st surfaced but I could tell it was decent sized. Netted this beautiful fish. What was it? ................ a 4lb LMB!

We headed back in just before 2pm to weigh-in our fish and get our hotdog lunch. By the time we were done doing that it was about 3pm and we were each 1 fish away from our limits. We decided to head back out to try and limit out. I headed towards the dam via mid-lake and it didn't take long and I got my 5th fish of the day for my limit, a nice steelhead!

By the time we made it to the dam I was fighting a bad headache. We made our last run back in and ended the day with 9 fish, 1 shy of our double limit. Still had about an hour left but my head just hurt too bad. Time to "head" home for dinner with some family/friends and recoup for day 2.

Day 2 report coming soon.....
