I was wondering what what some of your opinions on the best battery for a Minn Kota Endura 34 trolling motor. The manual recommends an 105 amp/hour battery, so I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what brand I should go with.

Another thing i was wondering is if there are any light weight batteries in that category. I need it for my solo Bass Hunter, and the capacity for the little boat is 325lbs. I weigh 230, plus my supplies, so I dont think I can have a very heavy battery...

I would be very grateful for any info given, thanks!!!

I have a transom-mount Endura 55 ... I've had a WalMart Everstart MAXX Marine Deep Cycle Trolling Battery for around 3 years and this LOVELY $65 battery has pushed around the likes of DVL/Skinner/NPH/Castaic non-stop for entire camping trips on a single charge. BEST value for yer buck!

I would go with the Odyssey model # 34m-PC1500 , they weigh 49.5lbs and last a long time, both in everyday use and lifetime. I have one that is still working fine, I got it in 1999. They are expensive, but worth every penny. 1050 MCA's and 135 min reserve time. 880 CCA.

What he said^! Odyssey batteries are the ****! You dont know batteries until youve used an odyssey, I had a pair that was 10years old + in my jeep that i used to run my winches(3 of them).

Whatever you do, stay away from the new optima's, theyre not made like they used to be.

Thanks for the replies fellas! But I just went to Wally World and bought an Everstart 105 amp/hour battery for 75 bucks.

The only thing is, I tested the battery once I got home with one of those $20 Minn Kota battery meters, and it reads only 2/3 charged. Is that a problem??? Should i rely on the readings from this battery meter?

Also, what do you guys think of the Minn Kota MK110P portable chargers???

Yeah...that new battery is going to lose some of its charge from the factory..... Throw that thing on the charger on deep cycle mode..... Store it at 100%

I would also have a battery tender hooked up to the battery after being fully charged, especially if it's not used weekly. You can get a real inexpensive one at Harbor Freight for about $5. I've used these for years on my ski boat, Harley, and another deep cycle battery I use to power an electric trolling motor. Using a battery tender and keeping a battery fully charged will almost double the life of a 12V battery.

Blue fan,
Take that battery back to Wally world and get a fresh one from the rack or in the back. Look for Year/Month stamp on the battery get the newest. Bring your battery tester with you too to test them on site or get your mulla$ back. Good luck
