anybody know if there is an artificial C&R only section of the King's. my dad said he was there but it was a long time ago and he cant remember where. said he caught some nice fish.

Yes, there are a couple different sections. There is a section above Pine Flat lake as well as below Pine Flat lake.

Above the lake from Garnet Dike campground Boyden Cave/180 Bridge is catch and release only with artificial lures with barbless hooks only. Garnet Dike to Pine Flat lake there is a 2 fish limit.

Below the lake from the Dam to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bridget is open last saturday in april to november 15th with a 5 fish limit.

Kings River Thorburn spawning channel is closed all year. This is located 5 miles downstream from the dam.

Then from Alta(Cobbles) Weir to the Highway 180 crossing is catch and release only with artificial lures with barbless hooks.
