Conejo Kid has been dying to get back out in the surf, so I promised him if the wind died down we would go Sunday. Sunday morning came and Conejo Kid was whining it was too early and didn't want to get out of bed. FINE......I'm still going. The car was already packed, jumped in at 5:30 AM exactly and headed to the 'boo'. Got to the beach just before 6. No wind and felt like it was going to be a pretty nice day. Grabbed my pole and headed to the waves. There was a bus of tourists there also with their fishing gear. Pretty entertaining when I first saw the 20+ men and women in slacks/skirts and T-shirts with fishing poles.

The surf was pretty rough with 6-7 ft waves. Always a beautiful start to the day though when you're standing on beach.

While the S.W.A.T. guys were down south having a slow day..........Donna was having a great day up north playing with the big, fat, perch. Yes, they have arrived. All but one caught on the LC. Not 1 or 2 but 7!!! Sorry boys

This guy got a very small flesh wound but was safely released back with the others! And NO my reel was not sitting in the sand, it was resting on my bag but you can't see it. See?? I know what you were thinking!

Around 10:00 the bite slowed down. I decided to switch to a carolina rig and perch crack. All I managed was this little guy.

Figured after that little dink it was time to go home and GLOAT to the lazy boy who didn't want to get out of bed. Ha! Of course I got "Man, you should have drug me out of bed" :Rolls Eyes: Ya snooze, ya looze little guy!

I started with a Flash Minnow 110 Metallic Sardine and then switched to the Zebra Laser Sardine. The Zebra seemed to do better that day.

NG

Too easy... it was right before she caught her first Hali so it was the Metallic Horse Mackerel LC. The LC that I was using to snag her line was the Metallic Ayu.
Cracks me up everytime I remember the look on her face at that exact moment... :Big Smile:
Sorry Donna, I've already been punished.

Nice Perch Donna. Tell Conejo Kid Fishing Planning includes going to bed early.

The early bird catches the worm
Meaning
Success comes to those who prepare well and put in effort.

Origin
This is first recorded in John Ray's A collection of English proverbs 1670, 1678:

"The early bird catcheth the worm."

Clearly, the title of the work indicates that this was considered proverbial even in the 17th century.

YES I had a tape measure I just haven't mastered all the steps, Work in progress. The largest one was 2 1/2 LC's and super fat. Besides Mike, haven't you heard.....girth is more important than length?:ROFL:

Hey Donna,
Glad to see someone was tearing it up on Sunday!
If your largest was 2 1/2 LC"s than that comes out to 11 1/4". Very nice piggie!!
Thanks for the report and pictures,
Robert

Nice report Donna and congrats on all the nice perch! When I started having trouble getting up in the morning I would tell my dad the night before to literally drag me out of bed, or I would wake up the next morning kicking myself and wishing I was fishing.

I need to try my luck at some surf fishing this year with you guys. I've never done it before but it looks to me that I will enjoy it! Plus you guys need to come fishing with us on the boat!

Donna,

Great job out there on the Solo Mission! You have now "Spanked" us 2 weeks in a row! :Pillow Fight:
Again wish I was there for the first session!

Too bad Conejo Kid was lazy! Remember buddy, you can always sleep on the way there and back but the memories in between will last for a life time if you were there for to witness it. :Bawling:

Missed you all at Corona Lake this session but I did look down at the short line of folks waiting to get in as the Wife and I "Zooomed By" at 4:50 PM on Saturday. Saw CTT & CTTB at the front of the line chatting with other Team 57 folks waiting to get in. Sure I missed out on some great fun!

We were headed back home from a BBQ at my daughter and now soon to be son-in law :Bug Eyes: place in Lake Elsinore!

The SWAT lady is on FIRE, and you know that I know all about fires.
Perch hitting the LC's is a very good sign, they're in spawing mode and agressive.
A little blue bird told me that the commander caught a nice pig a couple of days ago.
