I decided to hit up the local park close to work to do a little bass fishing. This place is tiny and really shallow but have some bass in it. I caught a decent fish ( around 2 lbs ) on NewYear Day after spending a whole day trout fishing at Centennial park, so I decided to give it another try.

The day started out with a pretty dinker ( around 3/4 pound ) that hit a small jerkbait on a steady retrieve in about 2 foot of water. The next two hours I worked a drop shot rig the whole perimeter of the lake for nothing, but learned alot about about it 's depth and lack of structure. Ten minute later, I got hit hard, the line just zipped like a bonito taking off with a flylined anchovie. This fish was a good 30 yards out and felt decent. After a decent fight on 4lb line, some nice fisherman helped out and scooped up a healthy 2 pound bass. He also took the picture of the fish with my cell phone.

I agree, lost my last rattle trap about 3 months ago. Just never got around to replenishing my crankbaits selection.

Yes, my friends (Jerry aka Gordo & BarnDog) and I caught a bunch of trout there. But get there within 2 days of the plant.

Also, thanks for the nice comments from "I fish too little" and "SmokeHound".

Nice going on the city bass. Bass certainly cruise the shallows during the trout plants and they are easy to find. The city bass are just getting smarter and need the right presentation, which can be tough sometimes.

Great job on the LMB this time of year they can be tough. I had a great year at the city park lakes. But have not had time to get out in the last 2 months. I hope to get out soon. Yhanks for the report and photo.
