We headed out of Newport Harbor around 5am. The weather was absolutely perfect. Our first stop was the 181. The trip out was like riding on a lake. We cruised out at 27 knots. Unfortunately, the water temperature was around 72 degrees. We trolled for 2 hours with not even a nibble. :(
After hearing the radio chatter, we headed toward San Clemente island. On the way to the island, we hit 4 different paddies; however, all the paddies were dry.
Arrived at San Clemente around 11am. Fished near Pyramid. We scored on Bull Calico Bass. The largest around 6-7 lbs. There were scattered reports of Yellowtail; however, we never got hit. Overall the weather was beautiful and the trip back was smooth sailing. 8)
