30lb test is key for what I catch. 6oz torpedos and size 1/0 hooks with squid is great!

No problem on the reel. If you are reaaaaly concerned just look for the 5lb. test with the largest diameter you can find. I tend to dropshot with 8 since you'll tend to be a little deeper and 6 on a weightless wacky rig.

I like 5lb on the drop. When I run the toray bawo florocarbon I use 5.5lb. The only problem you will have with that size reel will be the amount of line youll have to put on there. You may want to leave a backing on your reel before you fill it as good floro is expensive.

Well if you use 5lb test in Maxima then you should be fine...their diameter is everyone elses 6lb. I use 5lb Maxima and 8lb Trilene for drop shot...works great for me.

That's usually called 6 pound test.

It's been crazy busy for me because of the Holidays but I will be starting to hit Perris again next week. We usually go out there on Thursday afternoons around 2 till dark. You should come out sometime. As far as changing reels , I have a jonny morris sig series jm1000 for the light line....works good for me.

Oh dont get me wrong you dont have to put backing on. My reel says it holds 85 yds of 6#. Actually it holds around 100 to 110 with the smaller diameter lines, which works out perfect when splitting a filler spool. Ive found I need to replace floro more often than other lines and at 20 to 30 bucks a spool that gets pretty expensive.
