Maybe you should have kept it, Flatheads do hurt the sunfish and small bass population.

Thats what I was seeing FLATHEAD I think one was caught last year there to i dont think they have been stocked there ever or any where else in so cal maybe some one is importing from the canals or collarado river if so not cool. But congrats on a nice catch Im not trying to bust anyones bubble but if the fish were stocked by some one that has no idea could be bad.QUOTE=wulfman;510963]Nice Flathead![/QUOTE]

I have no beef with a flathead in there. Flatheads DO eat tons of sunnies, however, a nice large apex-predator like that is a godsend for the dam. So long as the flathead not eliminated, the sunfish wont be as stunted.

What lb line test were you fishing on that trout stick?? It must of been quite a fight if it was 2lb line.

I saw a recent post from someone who witnessed some Buhdist Monks dumping catfish into that area. He said they put quite a few in the lake...

Yeah it was 2 #. Took about 15 minutes to get it in, had to get my feet wet too as it went around some bushes. It was in the back in a cove that we fish. I'm not sure how it got there but I am guessing it was at least 20 #'s. It has to have been there for awhile.....

You were fishing by the shore? Any suggestions on your location, I want to take my kid nephew out fishing.

I prefer to walk around the back. There are a few coves back there that tend to produce.

I posted about peck road and the buddhists, they were dumping what appeared to be channel cats. Don't know if they were doing the same over at santa fe. In my report above the one I caught this sunday was a flat head as well. Nice fish and very meaty but a pain to clean.

All cats are a pain to clean that's why I give mine away.

Part of me wants to strangle those buddhists, yet the other half thinks they are cool for stocking channel catfish when the DFG wouldn't.

So conflicted!

I say let the Buddhists stock the cats it helps them ward off bad luck and they provide anglers with cats to catch and maybe even eat.
