I metered some unusual marks in 50 ft of water and told John that I thought that they were either a school of bluegill or crappie...John said.."lets give it a try" so we dropped on them and sure enough on Johns first drop...He hammered this Giant perris crappie...
It weighed 2.95 lbs..:Shocked: A crappie just a hair under 3lbs is a Giant!! It measured 17 inches long....and was truely a cool bonus...
We made another drop and caught a smaller one but then we left the spot to continue looking for and catching bass...
The bass bite is getting more back to normal now that we have the cold weather again...On this day we caught a bunch bass in the 2-3 lb class but THIS CRAPPIE stole the show...

Reminder guys, I have gift certificates available for the holidays.. They make a great gift !!!

Nice Job John ..you crappie killer!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!!

Wow! Nice crappie. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but here's an 18 inch crappie I caught and released there at Perris from my float tube back in June. Never got a weight, guessing around 3 lbs...

Thanks guys....

That school of crappie was HUGE... Id guess to say 300 fish or more judging by the marks on the graph and the area they covered... We could have rolled those crappie up if we were fishing for them... I think it would have been nonstop action for slabs... but we were after bass so we moved on...Still fun though and that thing was cool to see..
Not sure what the record is at Perris for crappie, Id guess and say close to 3 3/4- 4 lbs but Im not exactly sure...

Thanks guys...

The fight was TOTALLY different.. When he hooked it and started the retrieve I said..."What do you have?, because its not a Bass"...hahaha I could tell right away...

It had no fight in it.... even small bass have at least some fight in them...But not this crappie..

Fishinnut...hit me up after the Holidays and Ill still give you my Holiday rate...

Actually when I closed the tail and laid it back down, it went all the way to 18 inches. The lower lobe of the tail is longer than the top too.
