wood lures are the most valuable, most of what you have is spinners, and some lures, from what I can tell. There's a guy at Fred Hall Show you might want to show him for approximate value. But......collectors are fickle, and you never know.

I don't know where you are located, but one of the guys at The Fishermans' Spot in Burbank collects old bass plugs, etc.. He might be able to give you some insight.

I have a trove of gear from the 40s thru the 60s that I inherited from my Grandfather. I've done a little snooping around on the net and have found that most collectors won't give you a price... they'll ask what you want for it. There are a few places around the net which list price info for some gear, but I can't vouch for the accuracy.

Whatever the lure, it is worth considerably more if it comes along with the original box or packaging. In general, it seemed bass plugs were worth more than other lures or tackle.

Dating can be tricky. Often a piece isn't as old as it is purported to be. Certain details like paint, wood instead of plastic, hooks, glass eyes instead of painted eyes can be a hint as to the age of the item. Older, un-fished gear is pretty rare.

Good luck.

If you have a name for the lures or plugs, one way to get an idea of what to ask for is to set up an ebay watch for items of that name. It will give you a low-end idea of what someone is willing to pay for the item and you can take it from there as to how much to ask.

You really have to do your homework on old lures. Over 20 years ago I inherited a collection and was told to go to certain shops for pricing and info as well as private party collectors. They all gave me their best bids so to speak. We I sold them all a few years ago on ebay and made much more money than they offered, but I did the research online....I identified the lures, took quality multiple angle pics of each lure with a tape measure, and hosted the pics on photobucket for larger resolution. You would also need to take pics with good lighting & no flash with a tripod that show haze, cracks, etc.
Many of my lures sold for over $100 to $200 + each, but they were in excellent or better condition and well sought after lures...IE, Heddon SOS Minnows, Heddon Pumpkinseeds, ETC.

Look for names on lures.
Look for glass eyes.
Look for your lures on ebay completed sales...That will tell you the truth. Many dealers sell for premiums and you will still get great prices if you take great pics and have desirable lures.

Best of luck to u,
brian

I wanted to add to my above post but it doesn't let me.

From looking at your pics...Nothing really stands out to me as far as getting much $$. But maybe some leg work on your end will find out better results.

I have a lot of old ones too and hate fish with them for fear of loosing them because they are my dad and uncle's old stuff, and don't want to sell them. I want to put them in a shadow box and hang them on my den wall....Just an idea.

I just wanted to say your thread here got me inspired to fish a few of my inexpensive vintage lures. I tried out an old brass spinner (50+ years old) with a small brass colorado blade and caught a nice trout on my second or third cast. It worked great, I could do a very nice slow retrieve and the blade still worked great. Then I tried one of my Panther Martin made in France spinners and got slammed on my second cast. The fish were very tough that day.

The lures I used were in unused condition and I could have sold them for less money than it cost to buy something new. They were from my late Grandfather who gave them to my late father...I think they were happy I caught some fish! lol

If you find out your lures aren't worth much you might let them get wet and see what happens. I'm glad I did.
