Hello to all,

I am a beginner and i was wondering what was the max weight a 2lb line can catch without snapping?

Thanks

it all depends on how hard the feesh fights and how well you play it. also if ther is any cover for the line to fray upon

I've caught 10-15lb Carp on 2lb test. Like Frequent Flyer said, it depends on how well you play. Just set the drag light and you can pretty much catch anything.

I've cought trout to 19lbs on 2lb and have heard of trout in mid to high 20's on it.. If you want to catch big fish on 2lb use Izoline xxx or P-line cxx...

Then again .... there are FREAKS who get off on bringing-in Thresher sharks off the CA coast using only 2-4 lb test.... Takes em like 5-6 hours to do it, but they do it! :) Balls to the walls!

Hey, I take offense to that, I am one of the freaks.

only if your gonna kill the fish though. I've caught alot with 12#, and you can get em in fairly quickly with that, but I wouldn't chase em with 2 or 4 unless I was hunting a record.
