It's legal so long as you dont catch your limit.

Even after releasing a trout, it counts as your limit!

However, this is rarely enforced.

haha i remember wen i started out fishing 2 years ago and was slaying trout on the power worms at rancho jurupa. went to a barbless hook eventually and me alone caught 15 trout that day. ther wer 4 of us so we kept alot. ther was this one old dude who went on a rant cuz we wer catchin so many. he was using baitcasting gear and 12 lb test. after that i eithr giv them away or release. but anyway yea barbless hooks and not removing their slime layer is usually the game

i say this once this i know the law and obey the law but label me a one of them as a poucher i didnt even have a stringer nor a bucket there lots of people caught over there limits still get away people got jeously over come on! i was test new color jig that came out from east coast.

Depends on where you were fishing. There are a number of areas in the locals that have special regs....including keeping no fish. Good fish handling and barbless hooks help make releasing the fish safely a lot easier.
