So, I have a somewhat new Citica with 10lb izor spooled on. With it I'm planning to do some cranking, but I've set to settle on what kind of rod to match it with. Any suggestions on a good crankbait rod that's close to 7' in length, has fuji guides, and is under $100. Thanks.

Mavericks going to tell you to go with the RED phenix glass cranking rod. And i fully agree this rod is absolutely awesome!

What kind of cranks are you going to be throwing on it? Size? Weight?

The St. Croix Mojo Bass Series crankbait rod is a good place to start. I have this rod and it got me well on the way. For a quality rod at only about 100 bucks, you just can't beat it.

Love the Skeet Reese crank rod....bought it for my buddy last spring and almost kept the dang thing. Spent about an hour in BPS and felt about every rod they had and for the money, I thought it was far better than the rest in the same price range.

Lots of nice rods being mentioned, but few are within your price range...

So, if you're in no immediate need for the rod, I would scour eBay to see if you can get a good deal on rods in the $150-175 price range for around $100.

Also, if you can find a 1st Generation Dobyns 704CB at a great price, that would also fall into your price range.

NEW Dobyns 704CBs are about $219. Great rod, but out of your price range.

Sierra_Smitty mentioned the Skeeter Reese crank rod, and I've also heard great things about it for the price. Plus it's bright yellow...you can't lose it in the boat.

Vendettas, same thing. Good rod, for a good price. St. Croix Mojo Crankbait rod? Also a good choice for your price range.

He is right, I'd hold out for a couple of more dollars for the Phenix stick. BUT if $100 is for sure the max, then that Skeet Reese Wright & McGill or the Shimano are nice. I have played with both at the tackle shop. Every part of the Phenix rod is superior if you compare in a tackle store, especially the backbone in relation to the sensative tip.

Still a matter of opinion, go with what works for you and you have confidence in. If you are in my neck of the woods, I'd be more than happy to let you fish my rods to get a feel before you decide. Nice reel and line you chose, match it with something sweet!!

I handled the red one at the Bass-A-Thon, and the rod is a dream for the people that enjoy the feel of old school parabolic glass rods.
