Friends and I got into Yucaipa today when the park opened at 7:30. Got a strong tug within 5 minutes on garlic powerbait and orange worm powermouse in the middle lake. After that nothing. No one else was having any luck either. After an hour, we moved down to the lower lake and got no hits at all. I was also trying Super Dupers, spinners, and Kastmasters at the same time with no luck. I moved back to the middle lake and fished the right corner of the dam. I started getting powermouse hits every 5 minutes at about noon, but they were weak and the fish moved on after one nibble. I ran into a friend who told me that the bite in the middle lake was crazy last week - of course. We left at noon and didn't see anyone else land anything except for a moldy, dead tilapia (didn't know there were any of those in there). Hope the bite picked up for the people who stayed after we left.
