My Sis bought a boat late Thursday (12-9) that "Eat Sleep Fish" was recently selling here in the Classified section. We were anxious to get out on the water and break her new boat in so we decided to head to my favorite lake "the Vine" in the morning.
I tried to rally my Sis to make it to my house by 5am so we can get to the lake before the main gates opened but she isnt much of a morning person. I was suprised though when she was knocking at my door at 5:15am. There wasnt much traffic so we arrived at the lake right at 6am. I expected it to be busy and there be a parking lot full of cars waiting to go in but there where maybe 15 cars in line in front of us. We got through the line in less then 10 mins and again I expected there to be a small line of boats waiting to launch but when we got to the ramp there was only 1 boat launching, the other 2 lanes W/O, whoo hooo!
We started out trolling various Rapala CD05's all dipped in the Original Bite-On Garlic.

Again I was trying to rally behind my Sister to land the 1st fish on her new boat. Well it worked as 10 minutes later she fought and defeated this beautiful Vine "Bo.....

It didn't take long for me to even the score and land my 1st fish of the day.

Shortly after that I hooked into a nice one. I fought the fish for 2-3 mins before netting a nice 6lber. At this point we were in the back of the Flats and my Sis had to use the restroom bad. We decided to pull in the other 3 lines and head for the boat dock in the Flats. It being a new boat I wanted to see what she was capable of so my Sis put her life vest on and I opened her up full throttle in the middle of the lake. As we slowed down I could hear, clank, clank, over the side of the boat. S***, I forgot to put the stringer in the boat before opening her up full throttle. The 6lber was G0NE :Crying: VinePatrol saw the fish before it happened so atleast someone saw it besides my Sis and I.
After that things slowed up for a bit. Think we landed 1 or 2 more before we decided to head in for some lunch. It was about 11:30am so I told my Sis if she was lucky maybe the stocking truck would show up and she can watch the fish get stocked. We went in to the tackle shop and ordered a couple chicken burritos from the Vine Cafe "to go" cuz my Sis wanted to eat on her new boat. As we were waiting for our food sure enough in comes driving the Clavares Trout Farm truck. We grabbed our food and headed to her boat to eat. I took a few videos of the stocking but the lake also did and plans on releasing what they recorded so im not going to post what I recorded. I can tell you though there where many nice sized trout and some real nice browns in the mix. Here's a pic I snapped of the Calavares Trout Farm stocking truck with their mascot.

We hung around and watched the action for bout an hour or so before heading back out. We didnt want to cheat and hang around where the fish got stocked so we headed out along the West Shore. The afternoon bite had def picked up. We both limited out by 3pm. We headed to the tackle shop to weigh-in our double limit and the total was..... drum roll please, 28lbs 6ozs.
