Irvine Lake with my daughter...

Hey guys,
This is gonna be a quick report with pics….
I was originally scheduled for the other sites event at SARL, but after much thought, I decided that I would take Brit and I off the list, due to the fact that it was going to be packed, and also I didn’t want to wake Britney up at 2-3 am to go fishing. So we decided to once again fish Irvine Lake, and hopefully do a little better than our last trip.

Woke up Brit at 6 am, got ready, and headed to the lake. We arrived at the lake at around 645 am, and headed into the office to purchase our Fishing Permits for the day. We said hello to Jimmy, and headed for the lagoon. Today was NICE, there was no one as of yet fishing the lagoon, and we also could drive to the spot. We picked out our usual “favorite spot,” and had our lines in the water at about 715 am.

We had 4 bait rods out, 2 with inflated nightcrawler dipped in BITES ON and 2 PB rods dipped in BITES ON. It took awhile, but the N/C strike indicator went up, Brit took it off, gave it line, put it in gear, and set the hook! It was on for about 2 seconds, then came off. It spit the hook. So we recast, and waited. Same thing on PB rod….bit, gave line, set the hook, fish off. This happened about 5 time within the next couple hours. It was strange, cuz she usually don’t miss fish like that. These fish seemed very lazy, and really not committing to eating the bait, it wasn’t her fault.

So, after missing three fish, on finally commited, and it was fish ON! She landed that fish, threw it on stringer, and we continued to fish.

Long story short, we fished from 715 to about 230 pm, a FULL DAY for my little girl, and that’s what she wanted. She ended up with 6 fish, and missed 5, and broke one off. It was a slow pick, but she wanted to stick it out and hang out with Daddy. We had a great time together at Irvine Lake, and once again, the staff was excellent. Can’t wait to do it again!
