Hit the duct in the early evening with MarineMike to see if the moving schools could be found and ambushed because of the low water situation in most of the AV.
Had the striper senses telling me from earlier in the day to hit a particular spot. Well we finally hit it and what a hit it was. First cast with the tickler and I get bit but a quick hit and doesn't stick. I see Mike about 30 yards up from me hooked up on a soft jerk bait. Now we know there are fish here. The mad casting begins and I sling my tickler out and bam, hit, hook up and fight. Land fish number one for me. Mike is changing over to the tickler as he is no longer getting bit and I make my next cast. Bam, slam, thank you ma'am hook up again on the tickler. I land fish number two for me. Mike can't tie fast enough, lol. I cast again and doink, boink, oink, I miss. Now Mike is casting the tickler. A few casts into it he hooks up and nails his first tickler fish. Lands it and almost needs surgery to remove the tickler it went in so deep. Have to make like ten casts to finally get bit and hook up again and land my 3rd fish. We keep casting and nothing. Maybe we caught all the fish that were schooled up? My arm is starting to hurt from throwing the somewhat heavy tickler and working it and hooking and landing 3 fish so I switch over to the soft jerk bait and after a few casts get hit on the fall with some line slack. I see the line just bounce and shake and feel the hit but miss. Can't win them all. We keep working the area but it died so we took off and came home to end the night early.
It was good to finally get some fish at night. Everything has been daytime for me. This is still not a vampire mission and I still get my sleep. Mike killed 2 birds with one stone as he ended a duct skunk streak and got his first tickler fish. I will end with my favorite duct song. Metallica's "Searching, Seek and Destroy" !!!
