Saturday night……hit the bako land for anutha night-time storm session/mission with Hiro and his brother in law Ian.
Raining for much of the ride up but it cleared once in the desert…
Cold but not near as bad as the weekend before….
it was 36-38……I think
Slow action…real slow…the recent series of storms clearly affected the bite..
After 4 stops or so, still no fish for any of us…
I finally shook the skunk…..at the next stop
(sorry about camera phone pics but I lost my regular cameras memory stick)

Pressed on…..fished hard…..
Hiro Managed to nail one at the next stop…..
congrats buddy ! (no pic)
no more love after another 2 stops….
I had hooked up but lost ‘em…would have been #2 but no cigar…
Hiro and I shook the skunk but Ian, who was visiting from up north had never caught a striper, was still skunked….
The night/morn pressed on and grey light came…then the morning came…
Fully light now…still slow…
Hiro takes a nap as I drove his 4 runner on them rough dirt roads doin 50 mph…
Wooooooooooo-hooooo !
Almost got some air as we hit a woop-de-dooop !
Yeee-haw……everything flew up in the SUV including Hiro in the Backseat !
Surprisingly he slept through it…
So we arrived at my next spot which I felt really good about…
Woke Hiro and he didn’t want to fish it…
So Ian and I went to attack…
I realized that it would to have to be I…. to usher Ian into the stripers world so I took him under my wing and broke things down…
As he stood right next to me, I popped my lure through the current describing the actions and reaction from lure to current….to fish….
FLASH ! about a 7 lb plus swooped up under it….
AhhhhhhKha ! you showed me where you are AT !
GRAVE Mistake…..
I work the same zone !
FLASH !
Just missed it…….!
Ian’a eyes were as big as silver dollars as he was watching….
what I was saying was coming to life…..in front of his eyes !
Same Zone !
FLASH !
HOOKup ~ !
Bendo !.....same fish clearly !
After a drag peeling run….after about 4 seconds the hook ripped out of the mouth : ( (Dayam !)
Wump- Wump Wump …Waaaaaaahhhh !
Ohh well : (
A little more instructionals to Ian……and we went off to a different zone as too many bait and waiters were showing up……crowding the waters
Ian was attending class in the next spot….
I was on one pretty quick…….
AND….It hit the deck ! (saweet !)
He clearly was paying attention cause within a couple minutes it was BENDO time for Ian…
I watched ‘em battle ‘em in like a trooper and he landed em like a true stripa snipa’ !
Saweet…his skunk was shaken and his very 1st striper ever hit the deck ! : )
The feva musta’ set in and within 10 minutes he was on anutha’ ! Woooo-hooo !
Hookup ! a little smaller unit but a nice fish nonetheless !
His 2nd striper !....wooo-hoo !
(as Hiro slept on in the car ! – NoooB ! – ahhh ha ha ha ha !)
Ian wasn’t done yet as within anuther 7- 10 minutes he hooked up again and landed about a 2 lb largemouth….
Sweet success, he will go back home up north with a nice memory and some nice stories to tell.. (congrats buddy !)

I had 2 more swat at my lure at the next spot but no more hookups….
Ian had to get home as he had a 6 hour drive ahead of him that day so that concluded our outing.
Except for the 7 lb class that I lost, all the fish were much more skinnier and a bit smaller than the fish I’ve been contacting in my last 2 outings….
One of the 2 I kept for dinner had a nice solid head but was way thin… http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn284/garywuebben/bako10-27-10_2.jpg
you could tell he wasn’t in a heavy feeding pattern at all….which is 360 degrees away from the pattern I’ve been experiencing previously….all the fish I’ve been catching previous to this outing were THICK and YOKED fatty’s….
gotta take the love that lady duct gives you I guess : )
It was WAY Tuff….glad we were able to squeeze some action out…
Given the storms it’s understandable !
Glad Ian got to experience some stripey….all in all good times !
The recent storms DEFINITELY have taken their toll with the low pressure systems….hopefully these storms clear out soon !
Sorry for not having more pics, I’m going to have to get another memory stick for my camera soon…
For now the cell phone pics will have to do : (
Till next time…
