nph morning

well here we go.

Woke up at 5:00 hit the water at 5:50.

Me and Ryan (lunkerlover) Hit the docks today for a coldyet sunny day.

Arrived at 5:50 and was a little dark so we walked on the dock Ryan got 1 spottie on a 3" fishtrap black/white with calico cocktail ;). I threw a 3'' BH grunion pattern for nada.

So about 6:00 ish we threw the waders and were on our way!

I was using my new 240 U.S. reel. It cast good but a little hard to control direction.

So we walked dock to dock getting short bit a few times and Ryan broke off on nice spottie.

I switched to a white fluke D.S. for nada.

Tried drop shoting a sexy smelt FT looking thing for absolutly nothing.

About 7:00 Ryan got about 10" spottie on a new penny drop shot.

We walked around then I found a 5$ bill :Envious: as I grabbed for it a 10" ray surfaced at me and I got my arm soaking wet :Shocked: cold!

so we let it dry out then called it a day, but as we were walking backwe decided to go try and find another spot.

We drove around to find another spot. And ended up finding a spot in a restraunt parking lot at about 32nd street I think. Made a few cast but nada. Saw a sign that said only boat owners only punishible by 1000 fine. so we walked up to the car and loaded up. Only to see the sherrif boat checkin us out. whew that was close!


all in all had a great day! and cant wait to do it again.


ohh yeah, we stopped by Anglers center and I think I found my new home. That place is so awsome.

whats anglers center like? is it big? pass by it everytime i go into NPH but never stopped by.

Also, what kind of waders are those? were you able to stay warm? We tubed last week and were FREEZING even in our waders.

the anglers center isnt huge but they have a good selection on BH and they have alot of of big game tackle. They also do reel repair I belive.

Try going to Fisherman's Hardware in Long Beach. They have the biggest BH selection I've seen. And they charge .59 cents for 3in swimmies not .79 cents (Anglers Center). :mad:

@ desert fox: Angler's Center is SICK! Check 'em out @ anglersenter.com They have EVERYTHING you can't find @ the "other" stores and their staff is super knowledgeable. They only hire local anglers! Also - those "Snowbee" waders I am wearing are FULL 5mm Neoprene booty-foot waders. The water was COLD and I was warm from the time I walked in, to the time I got out... Got 'em BRAND new on EBay for $35!

Lol Lunker, we were using 5mm neoprene Hodgemans. Snowboarding socks and sweats, couldnt keep the cold off, we lasted almost 3 hours before we just called it quits and got out of the water. I think the thing to do now is throw some sock warmers inside the waders and see what happens :P

i've been wanting to go to Anglers Center for a while, drive by it all the time but they're never open when i get to the harbor and when its time to leave im usually to exaughsted to stop lol.

Try being kind man ... it's get you pretty far in life ... and remember what our parents told us, "Treat others as YOU would want to be treated." Jaysunn was just mentioning WHY he doesn't give them his business anymore. NEVER did he say anything to or AT you ... geez, man!

When I questioned the guy about the total, he could've easily got off his butt and checked the price. Instead, he decides to charge me the price that he "thinks" is right. Sorry, but I have no tolerance for incompetent people. :mad:

The workers were helpful, the store was nicely organized and they had a great selection of tackle. Maybe I shouldn't have judged the entire business due to one person's laziness, but sometimes that's all it takes. Ever been to a restaurant and had bad service? Food was great, but the waiter sucked. :Angry:
