What to look for in a boat

Hi been lurking around, but haven't posted. Was considering buying a boat, but wanted to know what are good brands, center vs cuddie vs walkarounds, etc. Price up to 20K and built after 2000. mainly local waters and catalina. Possible days out with the kids.

You might want to look aroud Craigslist. For local to Catalina capable boats, I suggest a boat with a Deep-V hull for those rough water days and one with an inboard so you have more space. My friend has a boat with a outboard and we have lost numerous nice fish when they took sudden runs to the stern and then line rubs against the propeller.
