Rod Holder Ideas

Looking for ideas for rod holders for use on rental boats. The main goal is to have it secure to the side of the boat and get the rod tips away from the boat as possible. Thinking of making something in my garage. I have an idea of what might work, but was wondering if anyone has something already made.

Currnet holders in use: hold onto the rod yourself (most secure, but uncomfortable)
rest on floor, hold with foot (fairly secure, but not ideal)
orange shore pole holder in the oar slot (no security, lost rod just matter of time)

I think I remember seeing someone from this board with one.

Any got any ideas? Pics would be appreciated.

Why not hire some gal to sit there and hold your rod ?

Have to check with the wife to see if I can keep her in the garage. Not holding out hope.

I use a 2 1/2 ft piece of aluminum angle iron with 10 inch pvc attached to it i drill 2 holes in pvc about 2 inches from each end all the way through then each hole drill one side large enough so the screw and screw driver will fit through first hole but not the back hole atach pvc to angle iron with cariage bolts and duct taoe to side supports of rental.
