I recently bought a 2011 Hobie Revolution. I got the kayak rigged for fishing and was anxious to take it out. I hit up NPH and wanted to make sure the fish finder, mirage drive, and rudder were all working. There was a lot of water movement with the incoming tide. I got to the harbor at 6am and fished until 12:45. I ended up with 5 spotties, 4 sandies, 2 lizard fish, and 1 sargo. I have never seen the water level so high in NPH. In the middle of the channel was about 28-30 feet of water at one point. The rocks near the coast guard were almost completely submerged as well.

A highlight of my fishing day was meeting a kayak angler named Gary out on the water that was full of information and advice. Advice to newbies fishing NPH: wave hi and say hello to people. Everyone is out to have a good time and enjoy the water. Have fun and catch (and release) fish, but don't take it too serious.

Those sargo can rock your world!

Extreme Highs and Lows this past few days!

Could have stepped onto almost every dock today on a foot trip in NPH!

hey i think i saw you out there, if that was towards me samoan dude with blak hoodie on walking front shore my bad about that...2 rednecks came out of the canal and asked if i caught anything and i said 2 spotted bay bass and i heard them chuckling while riding off like i was a tard???? got me in a pissy mood..

How big was the Sargo ?
Over 1 lb is a Calif State Record.
Nobody has submitted a Sargo and it is a open catagory.

Thanks for the report and photos. I started tubeing NPH this year and every time out has been great.

flyngby: there were some pilings and such that I could typically paddle under, but during this high tide I would have never made it.

Big Game Hunter: I don't think I saw you out there. Some anglers take this way too serious out in the harbor. Sometimes I feel like I'm at Irvine Lake....haha

stepchild: With the volume of water and the high tide, the water was not too bad. I typically wait a week or two after it rains.

dockrat: the Sargo was definitely bigger than 1lb....I had a record! haha!

CPT: NPH is quite fishy...everyone c&r so it stays that way :LOL:
