Tough weather killed our fishing this weekend. But we hadn't fished Naci or SM before, and we were impressed. But anytime the weather drops 30 degrees overnight, it will make for bad conditions. Rained on and off both days, Margi was tougher than Naci but then again all reports are saying Margi hasnt been tough since April. It was decent at Naci, a CBC tourney had 15 sacks for 7 fish limits, which is really pretty good at a spot lake. We managed about a half dozen, best was about 2 lbs. First pic is the only fish on the day at Margi, and the next is the best of the day at Naci. Both came on the jig

I have fished SM since the 70s and it is one of my favorite lakes. Man those Spotted Bass are a really a great looking fish. Love the markings. Too bad they didn't continue in Lake Perris.

whopsies...lol. shoulda edited the photo a little higher hahaha

yeah the spots are beautiful fish. they fight hard for their size. but they need to stay where they are...bucket biologists have introduced them into lakes illegally. San Antonio, Nacimiento, and San Pablo have all been invaded by them. At San Pablo, there were lots of big, fat largies. Now you go there and all you catch are 1lb spots. They do make good winter fish though, they bite well in cold water
