Well, I haven’t posted for a while because I have been workin’ hard and have been very busy. I did get to sneak away at the last minute to fish last week but I am just now getting around to posting some pics. This day I caught fish using dead shad (on dropshot) and 4 or 5 on dropshot roboworm, I also tried a shad pattern crank bait all day but especially when the wind kicked up (nothing all day) and 4” swim bait, and a jerk shad for a little while each (both nothing). All of my fish were caught from 7:00 am – 10:00 am, then it shut off like a light switch when the wind picked up. It was about 10:30 when I made a move from the buoy line to hit a few points and coves away from the wind; I didn’t get another one the rest of the day. I called it a day at about 2:00 as I was getting beat up pretty bad by the wind. Water temp was 66.8 to 67.2 in different parts of the lake, and I did manage 16 bass and 1 catfish. The Cat was 8.2 and my largest bass was 5.4, and I had another nice size bass that I estimated in the 3.5 – 4lb range…

enjoy the pics.

Nice bunch of fish. I live 15 minutes from the lake and fish from shore every once in a while. Once we get the house sold and move I want to get a membership.

Hi, Joe. Good to see that you are fishing again. I have been out of town, so I haven't fished for a couple of weeks, but I plan to go tomorrow.

Actually, the bass at Vail are not skinny at all, and those fish are not representative. The spot where Joe was fishing seems to be a graveyard for the old and injured. Even then you will not catch skinny ones unless you fish on top. I think dead shad float into that area and the bass that can't catch them any other way hang around and wait for a free meal. One of the fish there has one eye missing and the other one is so clouded that I am sure he is almost blind. They cruise around near the surface, so what we need are some bald eagles to help us get rid of them.
