I started my day at the BL until 930 with no bites. There were about 9 boats and not much noise. I guess its expected when there aren't any bites. So I left and went to my usual spot in Sharon's Rest. I got set up at Sharon's at about 10:00. For 20 mins. no fish on my fishfinder and all of a sudden one rod goes off and up came a nice cat. After taking the hook out, another rod goes off and this time its a striper. Good size but not the 4lbs. to 6lbs. that I'm use to catching in that area. Anyways, I was getting bites every 2-4 mins and still no fish showing on my finder, lol. I got 1 cat and 8 stripers in less than 90mins. About 5 got away. After taking a break for lunch, I put a couple of lines down and after waiting for a couple of minutes 1 rod goes down and by the time i got my net out, the other rod goes down. That was fun!!!!! Got some fish during the day and candies at night.

Does that mean the bait'n'wait bite has begun?

Good job on leaving the BL and going with your gut. I've spent so much time there and left after no bites, only to find them somewhere else. The weather looks like it will be consistent for awhile now, so maybe the bit will turn on again.

Nice catch!

What's the water temp up there now?

This past Sunday the water temp was around 68 degrees. Nice temp for bait and wait. I like the boils but I catch more on bait n wait. I hate chasing boils in freshwater but in the ocean, it's a rush! The best part about the water temp getting a little colder is that I dont have to deal w/ the lice.

hey I have a question for those who bait fish for stripers, I want to get my kayak up to castaic but was wondering what type of bait I should try, I hear sardines and anchovies but are you guys talking about the frozen store bought like from walmart or has anyone used the cured anchovies sold at bass pro that come in a plastic baggie and are not frozen?
