Hello,

I will be making my first saltwater fishing trip in Newport Harbor this weekend. Up until now, all of my fishing has been done in freshwater. Any tips or suggestions on places, bait, times, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I am debating on whether to stay on shore or renting a skiff or kayak, what would you suggest?

Thanks for the help,

Richard

Hey I am still some what new to the salt scene but in Newport there is alot to fish from shore. I say save the money and stay on foot, but being out on the water is something you should try one day fo sho. Good luck let us know how it goes.

If fishing the harbors, go during a good low tide.

This way, you have tons of shoreline access. As long as you're below the mean high-tide mark, it isn't trespassing.
