i am targeting big bat rays LOL, no seriously I am targeting calico and sandbass, and pretty much any kind of finfish

Wingnut's buddy just caught his PB Halibut on a metallic ayu LC.
It depends on species to species. Big-hammer swimbaits are cheap and versatile- tons of colors.
Will catch Barred, and spotted sandbass, as well as Calicos, halis, etc.
(also works in freshwater, provided there isnt much to snag on the bottom)
You can catch some monster Barred surfperch with hardbaits like LC's.
