Attack mode waiting for the sun to wake up. Self Portrait. Still Cig free!
I lost a fish before the sun even rose.

Mike stumbled out of bed and into the water.

Mission: My first wild fish from these particular waters. I have tried several times even with spinning gear and nothing. This trip would be different. And on the fly.
Here is the hefty waters I faced while sick as a dog with the flu.

After a few nibbles and misses the fish finally woke up and started to commit.
I landed my first and only fish of the trip. A great fighter though none the less.
These rough waters produce true trophy fish that give you a run for your money.
Not that my fish was a trophy, but it was a real fighter.

I caught the fish right here in this crystal clear run.

We left the water shortly after for a burger. We we returned Mike suggested a new area and I agreed. I was feeling a bit woosie from lack of hydration earlier in the day so decided to sit out and watch. Mike went to work and right before my eyes got nailed and landed a nice big fish in return for inviting me out to his stomping grounds and showing me the ropes and how to nymph proper.

I was stoked to watch the whole thing. Like a pro he is. It was only a year or two ago I took him to my favorite local spot to get on some wilds and look at him go now. You the man brother you played that fish like a pro angler would. I watched the fish dart left and right and up and down the river and stripping drag off for a good two-three minutes while Mike brought him in! But the fish jumped before my picture. Mike did get a pic though so I'm sure he'll post it later.

Here's pics of the battle anyways.

You're way too kind my friend, but thanks. Hell yeah brutha!! It was great getting out there with you again. I'll give you a call in the middle of November then again around turkey-day for some still-to-be-decided waters. Local missions between then if you're interested.

Here's the 15" bow from the bendo shots.

Oh yeah, hope you're feeling better man. You're a champ for hittin it hard after work like that while sick. Get well soon.

CD, I threw a size 12 psycho prince with a size 20 FB BH PT nymph 8 inches below it, all about 6-7 feet below a thingamabobber for that run. The fish that's pictured took the smaller PT. A dry/dropper with a stimmie and various nymphs was suitable most of the other water we fished and that's what we used. I think Casey threw a few different flies tho.

Correctly home tied stimmies and hare's ear nymphs.

They bounced off the stimmie all morning and eventually got hung on the hare's ear.

First fish on a dropper rig. Mike showed me the ropes. Dude has really learned his sh*t!
I'm proud of him. You have come a long way!

I farmed one slightly larger and one slightly smaller by the feel of them.
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle. lol

Oh now I remember..
I could see that fish's tail in the crystal clear water swimming all around on the end of your line man. I couldn't get it in the picture but it was one of the coolest things to watch I have seen in a good while. The fish looked huge from the tail I could see swimming around and I know it fought VERY HARD in all that current! Way to go. I know for a fact that took some skill.
