Well the King of the Cats 2010 has just been completed this morning at 7am, and we would just like to thank you all for competing! We had a field of 40 Catfish contestants that were gunning for this years King/Queen of the Cats 2010, which started at 10pm. The contestants came and were all competing for first place, and all had their "MO-Jo" baits and secret bait mixes ready to unleash. After 2-7hours, contestants began to catch there prized cats. The Top 10 Cats varied from 5.6lbs to the winning weight of 17.0 (mostly blues but channels as well, infact the 2nd place fish was a solid 14lb Channel caught by Ted Gervais of Vista, CA). Alot of the contestants who placed successfully, also C&R'd their catches

As the time came into weigh in, our first pair of contestants began to show. There were alot of sized Cats being brought up to the scales to officials Jimmy and Hubert, whom were ready to officially take weights and photos of the successful contestants. (The top 5 places were within 5lbs of eachother)!

But as with all contests there can only be ONE winner...and that winner was Elaine Dickerhoof of Artesia.

Thank you Irvine Lake for making this another very memorable experience, lots of familiar faces and laughs as always! Compliments to the chefs that filled our plates, everything was fantastic.

WTG Elaine, you been killing it all summer long....nice job keeping it going when it counted most!

I'd like to start by thanking Daniella and the entire Irvine Lake Staff who helped to make this another successful tournament. I know there was a lot of hard work and planning in this years King of Cats Tournament and that was very evident by seeing how well the staff worked together from the sign-up to the time the final award was given out.
Daniella, you and your staff made this years King of Cats one to remember, Congratulations and Thank You!

Now I must congratulate Elaine Dickerhoof the 2010 King/Queen of Cats. Congratulations Elaine, you had to be one of the most consistent in catching the larger catfish all this season and you were able to carry it on through this tournament. You are a very deserving Champion!

Also Congratulations to all the Team 57 members who not only made it to the finals but were able to make it to the top ten. Way to go Team 57!

Nice job Elaine - you always have had it. Marty is the man too - I have seen him and Fred just kill those big cats out there. Long before the days of the internet, when I was working at the lake, when it was $11 a person to get in ..... Fred and Marty come up to the baitshop and tell me to bring the scale down to the dock. These two guys had 5 catfish all between 40-50lbs a piece ! 5 ! I don't remember the exact weights but they let them all go at the dock after we weighed them. Hey Phil, nice job dude. And Terry, well there's always next year dude. Now come out and catch some salmon if you want.

Congrats to all that fished the tournament. It was really good to see so many DD fish come to the scale. And also special thumbs up to Elaine. By the look of the pictures it looked like everybody had alot of fun. I cant wait till next years King of Kitty's tournament.

Nice Going. I known Elaine since the mid 90's of the super fish club and she was killing it way back then along with Marty, Chuck, Phil and Tiny and Musky and all the rest of da old skool crew. She knows her stuff. Congrats to all the winners as well way to goooooo.

That stuff is awesome (I believe it is "Milanesa")....being a two time King of the Cats participant Omar has developed very distinctive taste when it comes to the stuff and was even able to pick out the best piece in the tray! :Shocked:

"You see that piece right there.....yeah that one RIGHT there, imma rip it up right NOW!" :LOL:

Congrats Elaine, you had a stranglehold on the crown months before we fished for it, & you held on tight Great job!!!!!! I was pleased to be in the top 10 with the best the lake has to offer
