Got in line around 0530 or so, about the 15th car in line. Got to watch a neat lightening storms this morning. I was worried they weren't going to let us on the lake. Sun started to come up and the lightening went away. Got my rental and on the lake at 650. Tons of fish in the marina buoy area......I said they hell with this, I'm off to the west Dam area. I was on a mission for some Striper!!! Made it to the west dam area.........didn't see any boils out in that area, weird. Started tossin my trusty KPN and slammmmoooo!!!! 3rd cast pullin a nice 6.5pounder. Let the good times roll!!! Unfortunately my father-in-law and my cousin that went with me don't have the heavy gear I have to chuck these baits.......I set them up my LMB specials and they nailed some LMB's here and there. I kept chuckin my KPN's and landing Striper..........biggest one was around 7pounds...........I stopped fishing for them after a while because I wanted to get the family on some fish. All and all a descent day.......but tough!!! Managed 5 Striper for 30 pounds.........gave two away because that is a ton of tacos for me...........talked to a few other people who said they were having tough days. I think the majority of the fish and striper have moved east for you guys. Until next time....................

It's tough to boilfish when you have those piece of crap rentals, unless you are lucky enough to be parked by a boil that happens relatively close to the boat. I blow 15-20 minutes of prime time fishing getting from point A to point B. All striper were caught in open water. Thanks for the responses. Like I said, the bite is slowing WAY down on swimmies but it is still there. The striper bite will continue to be really good even when they start stocking trout. Go pick up some of the big trout lures. That is the next phase for these striper. The BIG STRIPER are def moving east and are close to the marina now and even the east dam area. Keep chuckin! Where are all the reports for the "pros" that went today?? Curious to see how they did.

KPN.

I took off the braid and I am going with 15 pound Seagar Abrasx.........one of your buds recommended it. No complaints so far!! I'm going to use the braid on my topwater stuff.

I would recommend you have 2 to 3 feet of Flouro leader after your braid. I lost 2 top water lure on fish, after catching them left & right without retie the lure again, no more break off since I use leader.....
I throw my 4" top water on 20lbs braid and it cast very far....
