I was making trying to make bait and noticed a swirl. Casted my lure then dead sticked. Made a couple of twitches and the fish crushed my topwater. Felt the weight and the fight is on. I knew right away that its big. She made a few runs but short pumping the fish kept her on check. My PB striper...Steve at Gallions weighed it at 17 plus but that’s after It was bled.

Striper bite has been on and off for me. Skunk one day and the other its limit style. Seems like an afternoon bite though. The lake was recently blue stoned so Lots of dead shad n baby bass floating. Back of the coves are holding bait but kinda difficult to scoop since water visibility is very poor (pea soup).

Picture worthy from the previous week.

Treating the water with chemicals to get rid of algae. Pretty harmful for small fish. All the small fish n bait dying turned on the bite for a couple days. But i'm not sure if its necessary. There was hundreds if not thousands of dead baby bass and Shads on shore yesterday. Looks like they did the same last week at necktie...

Are you sure it was blue stoned? There didnt seem to be an algea problem before and all the algea dies off in the winter, so what would the point of blue stoning be now?

You don't need no stinkin' boat to catch the big boys.

Not sure if the lake was blue stoned. My initial guess was school of stripers came through killing everything in its path. I've seen stripers push hundreds of shad up the shoreline b4. Locals n old timers said it was blue stoned. I really don't know....

All So Cal reservoirs go though a algae bloom
The lake sort of blooms, all the floating micro plant life floats to the the top of the water.
Do to heat and the change of seasons, end of harvest, all you growers should now this, the lakes thermocline stratifies.
oxygen levels in the bottom of the water column rise's, the water resource dept and Castaic lake agency will blue stone parts of the lake, blue stoning is a copper sulfate material they use to kill agae
Because after all the people below the lake don't want to drink green water!
I remember they did the lower lake and didn't spread the stiff put very well and the were dead dd bass floating belly up everyday, not a good deal, they should just let it go green it will sink out anyway.
