That's a bummer about the tuna, but at least you caught something. I bet the trip was pretty expensive. I can only afford to do one trip a year because of the cost.

If you want Tuna, gotta go to San Diego. The LA boats wont make that trip unless the bite is going off. Otherwise, you get a 2 day Clemente Rock Cod special.

Hey Bro,
Sorry about the lack of tuna man!
I'm gonna try and head out next week, work permitting, and try to get some myself.
If I catch enough I'll throw you down some filets.
Thanks for the report and pictures,
Robert

Thanks for the comments guys. I've been keeping up with the reports, and some LA/Ventura boats have been on the tuna. We did go to tuna grounds, and saw a few boils, but they just wernt biting. Hopefully next time. Im already looking for another trip in SD, either Seaforth Landing or H&M.

1.5 day & 2 day trips usually go for $250+ depending which landing you book at.

Ill be out sooner than you think. If any of you FNN'ers want to book a tuna trip down to SD soon, 1.5-2 day trips, let me know and I may just get on a boat with you.

I think I see the problem in that second picture...you need to have line on your reel to catch tuna...LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, that sucks to get on a trip like that and then have to bottom fish. Better luck next time.

if you want to catch tuna go to san diego,, chances are alot better,,check out the reports, ask around on the better boat, if the tuna are close you can nail them on an over nighter ,chances are better on a 1.5 day trip,, you can fish an entire day.

You need to go to San Diego now. I was on the Legend yesterday and we had over 80 bluefin tuna, 16 yellowfin tuna and 2 yellowtails. Fishing was wide open from 7am until about 10:30am. It picked back up at 4pm until sundown. Therefore, you want to go on a day and half trip. I ended up with 3 bluefin, 3 yellowfin and 1 yellowtail. Make sure you bring line from 20 lbs to 30 lbs along with flourocarbon leader. These fishes are good grade from 18 - over 30 lbs. My biggest fish is a 31 lb yellowfin tuna. I lost one fish because I was too anxious and not counting up to three before setting the hook. 7 out of 8 hookups is not bad.

Man you want to get tuna from the Toronado? HA! Try going out of SD waters are warmer down there and the boats are closer to the action.

I don't know what the deal is, but I haven't seen Dorados on any of my trips this season. I went on 2 over nights, 1 1.5 days and a 4 day. It has been a wonky season.
