Even though I find killing big Goldens pretty lame, there is no mandatory C&R for Golden Trout so he was well within his right to keep those fish provided they were caught in a lake where no special regs were in place. C&R regs for trout are only mandated by body of water, not species.

Four people, four day's fishing and two long hikes. We kept 7 fish in two trips total. Saw many Goldens jumping and dashing through the creeks, released many on the fly and bubble combo. I guess one man's lameness is another man's hard work, reward, and yummy diner. Lame poacher....... I have one more video you just gota see. I'll put it up this weekend, you'll love it. good fishin!

I caught 6 browns and even posted a thread. SOME of you guys almost
had a heart atack :LOL:.3 of the browns that i caught had to pull their guts and
soul out to get my (secret weapon):Secret: other 3 i kept for dinner for myself
4 kids and my wife.I think alpers and bow's are the best to eat.Since its was my first
time eating browns never again.All browns/goldens/brooks will be released unless
if Mr.trout want to take my secret weapon
:LOL::LOL::LOL:
Good luck......

Indeed. My hard work is equally rewarded, and that reward for me is releasing them. My dinner is the 10" models. Each to their own...and kudos for putting in the work to find, catch and release most of those bad boys. Awesome fish to be sure.

Spotted owl. Classic. Anyone remember the Stanford Band mocking the owl at half time in Oregon? I think the state of Oregon band the band. Some folks have no sense of humor.

Sierraslam, good stuff there on youtube, thanks for sharing..

I would have a real hard time keeping those fish. It was always my thought that a 12" Golden was a trophy fish. Your rights to do what you want and no worries on my part. For me it some pictures, something to measure it by for the plastic trophy builder and I'm tossing it back.

Sure would like to know where you caught em....Did I mention you were a good looking guy;)

There are actually more Goldens in the Sierras than Brooks and native Browns...and probably Cutts. Since most people don't put in the effort it takes to fish for Goldens, obviously their population thrives better.
That being said...I see no problem with keeping a few for a meal. Afterall, you SHOULD be rewarded with the best trout meat on the planet for making the hike to 10,000 feet to catch them.
