After my fishing seminars were over on Saturday at the lagoon, I tore my booth down, took my gear home….
The bug started….
I thought….DAMN ! I’ve been “TALKING” about fishing ALL DAY….
I need to “DO SOME FISHING”
So after dropping my materials off, I returned to the lake
1 rod in hand and 2 lures….
I knew I only had 30-40 minutes left of the day and I thought….
Aww man….I’ve pulled it off before…I can pull it off again..
And by all means….let’s actually see if what I’ve been telling people to do all day will actually work….
1st 20 minutes didn’t produce any activity
BUT…as I threw my KPN Mini shad topwater…..
Suddenly…..I see something in the distance….heading in my direction…
It is a guess whether or not it will make it to me…..
So I increased the odds….
I ran to it….and when I say ran…..MAN….I think I broke a land speed record for running….
About 50-60 smaller units were rakin’ the top….
As I neared the zone…..I “BULLETED” a cast while my legs were still running…
After about 8 pop twitches….as my lure was dancing and walking the dog..
It got blown up on….
Short strike : (
Swoosh !
Another short strike : (
2 nd cast…..ANOTHER short blowup : (
3 rd quick cast and HOOKUP !
A nice little battler and a schoolie hits the shore
(didn’t bother with pics since I was only fishing 30-40 min)
My 6th cast found the water dead and the stripers no longer rakin’ the top…
I worked my KPN diligently and purposely submarined it…to draw the strike from dead water…
WHAM !
Hookup !
About 12 feet in front of me too…I saw it all really clearly !!
(SWEET)
A nice unit too !
About 8 lbs…
I battled it for a good degree of time on my light line….
and after about 3 nice drag rippin run’s he head shook REAL HARD and shook off (Dayam !)
bout 5-6 more cast found my lure among a few fish scattered about and swirling but spread about for many yards….
Another HOOKup !
Another schoolie hit’s da’ deck…..
And NOW the lake is closing down and I have to leave….
Well, it was nice to take some of my own advice and go put a few down and gotta love dat topwater action….
2 feesh landed and 1 nicer unit lost.....good way to end a long day
