Heading up Friday to bishop for a trip to the Golden Trout Lakes...before the trip, me and buddy will be stopping at Intake II, in hopes to rid the skunk early...This will be both of our first times there, so any suggestions of bait, spots, techniques will be taken into full consideration. One question i do have tho, for those who fish with crickets, how exactly r u guys hooking the little buggers?

Thanks guys
-David

I hook them from the tail
but last time i checked, tackle shops in bishop didnt have any
and one of the locals told me that, cant use crickets this time of the year
some sections of the river and creeks is catch and release only
check with dfg
good luck

I've never tried it but I heard that you get some super glue, put a little dab on the back of the cricket and hold the hook in place until the glue dries.

:Dead Horse:When using crickets, most the time you will catch browns or wild trout.
So as far as super glue goes.i dont think it works, becouse of the smell.
Fish is not use to eating glue+cricket.

the super glue method works just fine in terms of catching the fish.

However, hooking them in the tail is easier and quicker though and you don't run the chance of getting careless and locking your fingers together.

I usually hook crickets through the collar behind their head.

Hooking crickets through the collar behind their head works best....the hook doesn't rip through their body like being hooked through their butts and they stay alive longer or until they drown, but have never tried superglue because of the smell and accidental glueing....have been using crickets for trout bait for decades.

I only have one question.

You're going to Golden Trout Lake at this time of year ?

Actually...that's not my question. My question is....

ARE YOU INSANE ?????
