Had to go North to take care of some business in Mammoth just this past weekend and thought it would be nice to do some Trout hunting for a change. Contacted Bob (TroutOnly) for some intel and immediately got a return PM with GPS coordinated, secret off-road paths and trails to his favorite honey-holes. U da man Bob, thanks! My buddies Mike (Bones), Mikey (Exfactor) and Chris (Tr0psn4j) also gave me a long lists of spots to try... It probably would have taken me at least a couple of weeks to hit all the spots they told me to go. :Envious: Anyways, I mapped out a few locations and off I went into unfamiliar territory. Brushed the cobwebs off my Trout gear and put away all the LC's that I use for the surf for some mini jigs, spinners and smaller crankbaits.

Not much to say except for the fishing was off the hook, crazy good, just about wide open... caught fish every which way imaginable. Stream or lake, they bit at just about anything I threw at them. Got tired of catching fish on one method, switched to the next, again and again... over and over, catching and releasing so many fish that I lost count after the first day. :Big Grin: Fishing with bait was way too easy, stopped and used artificials for most of the trip. Rainbows were plentiful, both wild and stockers and the Browns were just amazing. Nothing very big but the non-stop action more than made up for it. My only regret, is that I didn't pack the fly rod. Keep a few fish for dinner... fresh Trout, delicious! :Big Grin:

Amazing escape, spent a lot of time thinking and reflecting on many aspects of my life... I needed that. Peace of mind is out there... you just have to know where to look.

Arthur (Wingnut)

“When you've seen beyond yourself, then you may find, peace of mind is waiting there.”

Here are some pics... enjoy. :Big Grin:
Didn't take many fish pics... all starting to look the same after awhile.

Arthur, I defintiely understand what you wrote about the serenity of the Eastern Sierras. I always enjoy my yearly vacation up there, and there is something undeniably meditative about chasing trout, especially in brooks and streams. Those small LCs have always done well for me up there (Chartreuse Shad), and it's fun watching the various fish come up and smash them. Love the colors on the brown trout too, as well as the scenery shots. It really is God's Country up there. Thanks for the read man,

Marc

Yeah, those tiny little Pointers kicks a**. I had to pinch down all the barbs after awhile because it was tough getting them off quickly enough. Thanks for the PM with all the tips Chris and good luck when you go back up there. We need to hit the surf together soon!

It's really beautiful up there Marc. I wish that I could find the time to go up there more often. Maybe I can talk to the "Boss" to arrange a business meeting up there once every quarter or something.
As for the little LC's, I should have packed some slightly bigger ones to give me a better chance at the bigger browns... next time!

GET OUT OF MY FISHIN HOLE,,,,LOL,,,,,,,,,,I RECONIZE ALL THOSE SPOTS.........t/o........GREAT FISHING ARTHUR.........
I totally poached your spot Bob! Thanks for the detailed intel, it got me to the exact spot. :Big Grin:

Very nice my friend..........We gotta do ONE MORE TRIP before the high country season closes!

Thanks for sharing brotha!
Let's start planning it now Mike. You know how it is, we talk about it, but unless we actually commit and make plans to go... something always come up, like the Fall Halibut bite in the surf... hopefully. LOL

Pretty country you fished in Arthur. Did you try the lc I gave you?
I was kicking myself for not putting your lure in my pack Mikey. That thing would've nabbed a big Brown for sure. What I should have done is put a surface iron in my pack.

I have seen those little lures everywhere. They are the Lucky Craft Pointer 48SP. Deadly for panfish ad Trout. I think Yo Zuri makes a similar little lure too. I saw them at Bob Sands in Van Nuys and FishnFools in Granada Hills and some other well stocked tackle shops. I'm sure you can find them online on sites like Bassproshop.com and ebay too.
