Hit The moonlight event Saturday night with Hiro.
I wasn’t really expecting the stripers to bite real well at night given all the shad around…the night bite seems to fizzle when they spend all day gorging on those baitfish…and they don’t chase ‘em down at night like the daytime nor do they need to since the shad availability is great…
So….we went into it knowing that upfront and our mindset was set on some kitties…
It was pretty slow but we patiently waited…fished hard
We each got a runout on a dine but hit and spit….
(Most likely dink stripers)
We fished on…
And just about when we were deciding to up anchor and move…
BENDO !
Hiro is ON !
Major bendo…
Serious fish there Hiro….I stated as he took his time battling it…
After a nice weighty battle…
Too the net !
Ahhhh yes…Hiro’s skunk is off !
Congrats….that fish is a TOAD !....

I’m not sure these pictures depict the sheer mass, I guess we shoulda’ took a pic of the HUGE head !
But this fish goes way over double….I’d gues 12-14 but it’s hard to say for sure…..but it was …

After a little while….and some hard fishing…

I set the steel foundation…
DAMN….this fish has some POWER !
I guess he ate his wheaties that morning !
Ripping drag …
Peeling my 15 lb seaguar…….
off the bow !…..heading for the anchor (Whatchout !)
off the point….!
back to the middle….
Running to the stern (whatch the anchor –whew !)
An epic battle….thumping REAL Hard !
At times is was bowing my crucial med/heavy 7.6 down into the water !
To the net…
Wheewww !

We fished it hard for the rest of the night hopin’ for more cruising the area but no more luv…..
Flylined Mackeral was the dinner of choice for them : )
I guess if your only gonna land 1 each….those are the ones to land…
